The Michaux Conservancy is an environmental nonprofit whose mission is to teach people how urban coastal ecosystems work and how they benefit human health. In a collaborative effort with other education and research institutions, we are reconnecting the people of North Charleston with their natural surroundings. To advance this process, we offer hands-on environmental education programs for area adults and for students at 14 public schools.
As the steward of Noisette Creek and Preserve, we help focus resources around this ecosystem. We are working to restore Noisette Creek in partnership with the City of North Charleston.
Michaux is also creating The Center for Urban Coastal Ecosystems, which focuses on two main areas: the Noisette Creek Preserve and the MiniFarm.
